San Juan Vineyards, located just a few miles from Friday Harbor, has Seattle Wine Awards-winning vintages.
Almost 5 kilometers from Friday Harbor, you can taste local wine from the San Juan vineyards. The island is, in fact, located in the "blue hole" that characterizes the microclimate present in this area. Several vintages have won Seattle Wine Awards, including a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Cabernet Franc. Most of the wines are harvested and bottled in San Juan. The others are made from grapes grown in Yakima, Washington and Columbia Valley, Oregon.
