The closer you get to Victor Hugo's house, the more tired and thirsty you become. The slope is steep, so refreshment is often welcome as you approach the Holy Grail of Saint-Peter-Port. The atmosphere here is relaxed, with the usual draught beers and a mix of tourists, investment bankers and retired investment bankers. This self-proclaimed social house is decorated in a friendly, modern style. The menu is a little more elaborate than in the classic pubs. We really like it!

Food and service excellent
Visited in february 2023
First visit in many years. Plenty of eating and drinking choices for myself. Steak was excellent. Table well attended. Only gripe which is a common one around the the island's eateries - don't skimp on the cheap ingredients (fries), especially if someone is laying down some solid money on steak. It's such an easy win for the sake of half a potato!
