On 27 January 2014, Russia commemorated the 70th anniversary of the lifting of the Nazi blockade of Leningrad (872 days), one of the most tragic pages in the history of the Second World War, which cost the lives of more than a million people. Many of them were buried here during the conflict, mostly in mass graves. This cemetery in Piskarevskoye reminds us of them. It is a very moving place of meditation, enamelled with Soviet monuments in homage to the victims.
