MUNESS CASTLE

Muness Castle dates back to the late 1500s. It was built for Laurence Bruce of Cultmalindia, half-brother of Robert Stuart, first Earl of Orkney, who is a prominent figure in Shetland. Accused of oppression, it is also described as heroic in some legends. It is the northernmost castle in Britain.
