STONES OF STENNESS CIRCLE AND HENGE

The Standing Stones of Stenness are thought to have been erected 5,000 years ago. They belong to a series of domestic and ritual monuments. The site once boasted twelve standing stones, but today only four remain. Their shapes and stature are absolutely stunning, with the tallest reaching 6 m. A path perpendicular to the road and parallel to the field where the stones are located leads in a short time to Barnhouse Village, another site to visit if you're interested in prehistory.
