ST. NIKITA'S MONASTERY
Go there and contact

This monastery, the oldest in Pereslavl, was probably founded in the 12th century and developed thanks to the local saint, Nikita Stolpnik. In the 16th century, it served as a refuge for Tsar Ivan the Terrible, who had it rebuilt in stone (the enclosure and the tower are a good example of the fortified buildings of the time). Destroyed by fire in the 17th century, it was restored in 1643. Closed in 1923 after the revolution, it is again inhabited by monks since 1993. It inhabits the cathedral of Saint Nikita, built under Ivan the Terrible.
