GORITSKY DORMITORY MONASTERY

Pereslavl-Zalesski has five monasteries of which this is the oldest and most famous. It was founded under Ivan Kalita (1304-1350) and resembles a fortress (which can be walked around following a small and very pleasant path). Inside you can see the Dormition Cathedral from the 18th century and the Church of All Saints next to the refectory and the Guefsimani Church. A very rich ethnographic museum and an open art gallery are located in the refectory.
