KARATSU CASTLE

The town's castle is a reconstruction dating from 1966, undertaken to stimulate local tourism. The present structure is perched on top of a hill, overlooking the sea and the town. The castle was originally built in the late Edo period and demolished in the 19th century. Very interesting, it also houses an archaeological museum which exhibits old pottery, but also samurai armors and weapons... Outside, you can attend performances of epic scenes of the Edo period, played by young actors.
