UWAJIMA CASTLE

This castle, built in 1601, offers a beautiful view of the city. Inside, photos of its restoration and of other castles in Japan are on display. Uwajima, which has been home to nine generations of lords, is one of the twelve castles in Japan that still has its original keep, built during the Edo period. Don't forget the Tensha-en, a beautiful traditional Japanese landscape garden dating from 1868. This garden can be visited all year round, but it is particularly beautiful in spring.
