Tajimi is known for Mino-yaki, a type of pottery dating back to the 7th century in Mino province. Tradition has it that it dates back to the handmade production of bowls for performing the tea ceremony. It really took off in the 16th century and was long confused with Seto ceramics. Two major festivals are held here each year: Tajimi Tōki (April) and Tajimi Minoyaki Danchi (late September), during which local potters exhibit and sell their work. You'll need to inquire for the exact dates of the festivals. It takes 22 minutes to get there on the Wide View Shinano from Nagoya
