It is in this building that the floats of the famous Hachiman-gū festival can be seen. These floats(yatai) were built in the 17th and 18th centuries. They are decorated and enhanced with embossed metal and inlays of mother-of-pearl and lacquer. The other yatai are stored in the kaikan ( yatai shop) and can only be seen during the festival. On the float, dolls are manipulated by thirty-six strings that allow the puppeteer to make them perform acrobatics.
