In Hachinohe, morning markets are a veritable institution. The most spectacular is Tatehana Wharf, which takes place at dawn every Sunday from mid-March to December: over 300 stalls line the wharf, attracting thousands of visitors who come to sample fresh fish, local specialties and street food. On weekdays, head to the Mutsu-Minato station market, where you can create your own bowl of sushi with locally sourced fish, hot rice and miso soup. An unmissable gourmet experience with a change of scenery.
