SENSHU PARK

The park is famous for its flora, mainly azaleas and cherry trees. A hill attests to the location of Akita Castle. It is indeed in 733 that a fortress was built to resist the Ebisu. Of the castle, only ruins remain, except for the reconstruction to the north of Osumi-Yagura, the tower of Kubota-jō Castle. In the park, the Akita Hachiman Shrine was built in memory of Yoshino Satake (1570-1633). In April, 730 cherry trees bloom in the park. It is one of the top 100 cherry blossom viewing sites in Japan.
