In the south of Sado Island is the small port of Akadomari from where you can reach the coast of Niigata Prefecture via Teradomari. There are also some sites of interest. There is the Akadomari Folk Museum which shows the festivals of the whole island and the history of the struggles between the villagers. You can see a beautiful parade float. The Zenchoji temple, not far from there, was founded around 827. This temple of the Shingon school is one of the temples on the pilgrimage route of the Seven Gods of Fortune in Sado. Outside the city, the pretty Jogahama beach and its 150 meters long is also a very nice stop.
