We've moved rooms nearly every time we've stayed here. Bad and loud air conditioners on the ceiling shaking the building, paper thin walls or voices leaking through the adjoining doors, bad smells. This is a very old building with a veneer of fancy painted over it with weird art. It's technically inside the Beverly Hills boundary, but in reality it's down in strip mall hell, and the environs are very unglamorous. They shouldn't be charging $70 for valet parking. The staff are nice and have worked to resolve the all problems, but at the end of the day they are working with a dingy old building and there isn't much they can do.
Not a good experience. Mandatory 20% Service Charge for Breakfast AND they ask for a "Suggested Tip of 18,20, or 22%. Tacky and try to Guilt customers into paying 40% for Service for Breakfast.
Nestled in the heart of Los Angeles, the SLS Hotel at La Cienega offered a brief yet memorable stay during our exploration of the city. Despite our Airbnb in Beverly Hills, we found ourselves drawn to the hotel's elegant rooms and inviting ambiance. While our time was short, the experience was nothing short of welcoming and luxurious, providing a delightful retreat from our adventures across LA.
The only reason this hotel gets 4 stars is because of the food and the hotel staff…the rooms themselves are 2/3 stars. But the food- omg delicious!
For breakfast I had the mushroom omelette, bacon, and sourdough toast…the toast I could have done without, but the omelette was probably one of the best I’ve ever had. For a late dinner I had the mini burger + fries and it was the perfect serving size and cooked to perfection - 10/10!
The hotel is walking distance to the mall, so I loved the location as well.
I honestly could not be more impressed with the level of service my wife and I received from the entire staff here. Ruth, Memo, Lizeth, Tay, Nikolay, Mikey, Kiara, Trevor, the meeting the Chef on Sat, (Assoria sp?), and Yori were so pleasant and made sure our stay was truly relaxing. We'll be back for sure. Thank you again!!!
Front desk guy was very kind to upgrade me to a suite. I’m a gold elite member and normally I need to ask this, I didn’t even ask it and he did it, so that was a surprise. I found the staff friendly. The design I found a little strange, with mirrors pretty much everywhere. The foyer seemed to be lacking energy, but overall good experience.
This is a 3-star hotel masquerading as a five-star one.
Pros: staffs are great, amazing service.
Cons: cheap, nonfunctional hardware everywhere. Bathroom ceiling was leaking water as shower went on, not to mention their weird shower space layout where you can't use the hand held shower head unless you hold it with one hand the entire shower. Unsafe to climb in and out of tub for seniors or children.
Jenny at the front desk stands out as one of the most attentive, warm, and professional staff members I've encountered in a hotel. Despite a misunderstanding about my room reservation—which was entirely my mistake—she went above and beyond to ensure my stay at the SLS surpassed my expectations.
The bar downstairs, Wasp in a Wig, provided an exceptional experience and was the perfect spot to end the evening during my business trip. Andy, our server, was incredible—both professional and friendly.
The staff, particularly Jenny, truly makes you feel like you're enjoying a genuine 5-star experience. I will definitely return.
Was recently here for a celebrity event and my team did not receive the best service. Some members of the staff were helpful other members were a bit lacking. This was not the level of service we expected from an SLS hotel.
I am a Marriott Bonvoy member and was a tad nervous because of previous reviews I'd read about the service at the hotel. My experience however was NOTHING but positive.
I was there with my family (including 2 children) for an event nearby and I felt welcome and catered to the entire stay. From the moment we pulled up to the valet to the instant we walked inside. The staff was friendly and courteous. It was clear they were there to be of service in what ever capacity they could.
The hotel aesthetics were beautiful and chic. I loved everything about the design and the cleanliness. We even ate in the restaurant one evening and that was absolutely delightful. Wonderful service and great food.
My only regret was not getting downstairs to the Alice in Wonderland themed speakeasy. But I was so busy I didn't have time. The location was brilliant for our needs. Right by the Beverly Hills Center and the theatre where our film premiere was taking place. Trader Joe's and Target were in walking distance. But the icing on the cake was the complimentary limo/shuttle service to nearby destinations. Sure it was first come, first serve but we utilized this several times during our stay and once again the driver went above and beyond for us.
This may have been my first time staying at the SLS Hotel, but this will not be my last time. And I will be sure to tell everyone I know who's planning a trip to LA to (ignore the bad reviews) and stay here too!
Horrifying experience 2/18/24-2/22/24. Our room had an absolutely disgusting air conditioning vent (see photo). The vent’s lack of cleaning was discovered only after coming back to our room with a distinct smell of weed, seemingly coming from the bathroom vent which was the filthy one. Our room was a suite so we were able to get the kids to bed without them sitting in the smell. We let hotel staff Know the next am and we were given a small credit and assured that the vent would be cleaned (it was) and an air purifier would be added to the room. The next night again coming home late we had the same smell and the kids very much noticed. We again got them to bed away from the part of the room that had the smell. About 20 min later the smell turned to more of a burning plastic. Apparently that is what crack smells Like too. It stopped after about 15 min but long enough for me to call a manager who didn’t care all that much, followed by someone in maintenance who confirmed nothing is burning from a mechanical point of view and it was an odor from outside meaning it’s not from a building system. The next morning we addressed the issue. We waited to get a response that was substantive while we did our sightseeing. It does not appear they even bothered to go to other rooms in our line to see who is smoking crack and weed. The next night it was back to weed with the added smell of cigarette smoke, again isolated to the bathroom. At least it wasn’t crack right? Thankfully the last two nights we were odor free. For the price you would think they clean vents and run their “family friendly” hotel as family safe.
