SHUTTERS ON THE BEACH

Literally "shutters on the beach", the Shutters on the Beach sign doesn't lie. Along with its neighbor, the Casa del Mar hotel, it's the only establishment in the area with its feet in the sand. The service is impeccable, and the dark-floored, white-furnished rooms impeccable. Although they are relatively small, some have individual balconies with wicker seats facing the sea. The lobby, meanwhile, has a beach-cottage feel and features some original David Hockney lithographs.
