Pretty disappointed, we were told our table would be ready soon/ in a few minutes and we ended up waiting 1h30 for a table of 3. (On a Monday) Multiple groups of two were served before us even tho they arrived after us. The food ended up being pretty average, and I was expecting better given how nice the atmosphere was. Honestly would not come back
Great quality at reasonable prices. One of the best softshell crab rolls I've had in recent memory. I'll come here again. There's often a wait and groups of 3 or more need to get on the list early.
Best sushi I’ve ever had in my life. This place was life changing and left me speechless with every bite. Every penny was so worth it and I will definitely be coming back. The atmosphere, service, and food all felt very authentic.
An excellent and authentic experience for sushi in the style you would see in Japan. Signs at the entrance set expectations (no teriyaki, no tempura, no noodles) to avoid disappointment from people looking for a more standard Americanized Japanese dining experience. No spicy mayonnaise, sweet eel sauce basted rolls here (though those do have their moment elsewhere in Little Tokyo). Nigirizushi and sashimi dominate the menu with mostly bar seating. 3-4 sushi chefs manage sections of the bar and will freshly prepare sushi from breaking down the fish to putting it on your platter. Ambiance and service are to Japanese tastes. The waitlist is based around having a name on a written list and waiting for your name to be called. No electronic contact or list monitoring. Arrive at opening or be prepared to wait. Prices are standard for this quality of sushi which is to say that the meal will be a special occasion.
I love the atmosphere here. It was like sitting in a cozy sushi bar in Tokyo. However the sushi taste is not my favorite. Scallop was too cold to be served. Sea urchin tasted creamy but the seaweed overwhelmed the flavor. Sweet shrimp was ok. If you like ankimo you have to ask, it is not in the menu but they have it.
My #1 go to sushi place. Hands down.
Unless I feel like just filling myself with sushi, if I want legit sushi, this is the place. Never disappointed. Chefs are so kind and vibe inside is so amazing
You might have to wait hr or two, but it is definitely worth the wait
Their Mackerel is my favorite too.
They have small menu but have exactly what I need.
Always thank you guys, and will support this place 100%
Please dont change!!
Eating- only sushi meaning no fancy creations however delicious!Atmosphere is a whole lot of people enjoying dinner; sometimes small talk with person seated next to you and with Sushi Chefs.
This place is truly a fantastic authentic sushi spot! The food was incredibly fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was very pleasant and welcoming. The staff were extremely helpful and hospitable. I would definitely love to visit again!
When you are in need of real authentic Japanese food, here's the spot. The sushi is very fresh, well prepared, and served in true form Japanese settings. They serve well, I could have totally shared my bento box and still be full and happily satisfied. Sake or a Sapporo helped round the meal. Mmmm!
Amazingly friendly and accommodating sushi chef whom you place all orders with, starting with the first order slip. Further orders can be placed with him as well, he does his best to meet all requests and is nothing like the other snotty big ego chefs, even at the same price point.
Amazing sweet shrimp (GET THE SOUP FOR THE HEADS), uni, scallops, toro. If I could do over, I would get 10 sweet shrimp sushi and drink 2 bowls of the soup and call it a day. The long walk in wait is worth it.
No frills food that you can feel most of your $$ is going towards fresh ingredients instead of plating gimmicks or ambience or service stuff I don’t care about. 100/100 recommend, so glad we went.
Like a real small restaurant in Japan, with tasty food and friendly atmosphere.
You cannot book a table in here, and there is always a line in the evening, so make sure to come here earlier to enjoy the dinner.
Very small but delicious spot to eat at, highly suggest coming here if you love sushi. Everything is very authentic and the food is to die for, don’t expect much ambiance or decor, just go here for the amazing fresh sushi, you won’t be disappointed.
We waited an hour to be seated, it’s popular and like I said, small. Went across the street and got a drink then when we returned we were seated. WORTH THE WAIT.
It was hands down a mind blowing experience. Thank you to everyone at Hama that delivered excellence!

Good “bang for your buck” sushi!—quote from my friend.
We love everything here.
