MUSEE MHER MKRTCHIAN

This museum, located in one of the arteries of the historic district of Gyumri, is dedicated to a local celebrity, Meher Mkrtchian, the great, mostly comic, actor of Soviet Armenian cinema who was a native of the city. He made generations of Armenians laugh and cry, and not only, since his humor served by an extraordinary physique, had conquered the USSR (even France with "Mimino"), in black & white and in color. The inhabitants of Gyumri, known for their sense of humour in Armenia, mourned him greatly when he passed away in 1993.
