A very simple monument off the paved road with a one-meter white brick column topped by a cross
This very simple monument was erected in 1956 in memory of John G. Clark (1843-1915), a Civil War veteran who died of thirst and exhaustion here while crossing the valley. The one-metre white brick column topped by a cross stands some 50 metres off the road. Regarding Beehives, the unusual sandstone formations, altered by the forces of erosion, resemble the cells of a beehive(bee = bee, hive = hive).
