The structures have retained some beautiful polychrome mosaics
Vestiges of the Roman city of Valentia have been unearthed in the Sant'Aloe district and have been identified as having belonged to three domus (dwellings) and a thermal establishment. The structures have preserved some beautiful polychrome mosaics, the oldest of which, dating from the 2nd century AD, features a Nereid riding a seahorse in a maritime environment populated by stylised dolphins. The site has also restored a remarkable marble portrait of Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa, son-in-law of the Emperor Augustus.
