MARCA

Inaugurated in 2008, the Museo delle Arti di Catanzaro (MARCA) hosts temporary exhibitions dedicated to contemporary art as well as interesting permanent collections, with works by the Messinian Antonello de Saliba (Madonna della Ginestra of 1508), the Calabrian Mattia Preti and the Neapolitan Battistello Caracciolo. The nineteenth century Calabria is represented by the painter Andrea Cefaly and his school known as Cortale (the village near Catanzaro where the artist was born), as well as by the gypsum library of the sculptor Francesco Jerace.
