Cathedral dedicated to the Madonna Annunziata, protector of the city of Castro.

Dedicated to the Madonna Annunziata, protector of the city, Castro Cathedral was built in the 12th century in the Romanesque style. On the left side there are the remains of a previous Byzantine church of the 10th century, which had a Greek cross plan and half-erased frescoes where you can still recognize holy figures and a Virgin and Child. Going around the building, one reaches the ramparts where the remains of the ancient Messapian fortifications have been unearthed, made of large squared stones.
