This Serbian Orthodox monastery dedicated to St. Nicholas is the oldest on the lake. Located near the village of Vranjina, it was built between 1221 and 1233 under the Nemanjić dynasty. After being destroyed several times by the Turks, the monastery was rebuilt by King Nikola (1841-1921), when Montenegrin forces recaptured the island. Adjacent to the building is a residence that King Nikola had built for Jelena, his fifth daughter. It is one of the highlights of the boat tours from Virpazar.
