18 km from Cali, this large city of 300,000 inhabitants is the agricultural capital of the department. It is possible to visit the sights by horse-drawn carriage (Nuestra Señora del Palmar church, whose tower reaches 85 m high, Nuestra Señora del Carmen and Santísima Trinidad churches and the Estacíon del Ferrocarril). Tasting of salpicón (fruit salad), bojoro (drink derived from the fruit of the same name with supposedly aphrodisiac virtues) and chantaduro, a carrot-colored fruit soaked in honey and salt, is mandatory. It costs around $4,000 by bus from Cali, for example with the Expreso Palmira company (every 10 minutes from 6am to 10pm).
