Religious monument, the most important of the village, with a museum of religious paintings inside the convent
The most important religious monument of the village. Dominating the central square, the Franciscan church and convent were built in ashlar between 1694 and 1760. Inside the convent there is a museum that exhibits religious paintings, including works by Gregorio Vásquez de Arce y Ceballos, the most important painter of the colonial period in Colombia. Every year on September 7, celebrations are held in honor of the Virgin of Monguí.
