This mine is home to salt stalagmites, mirrors of brine with impressive optical effects

Equipped with a helmet, we descend through a 1.6 km tunnel to arrive 80 m underground. There, salt stalagmites, brine mirrors with impressive optical effects and a 1,600 kg heart-shaped block await us. It was in this mine that the film The 33, starring Antonio Banderas and Juliette Binoche, was shot, telling the story of miners trapped for 2 months in 2010, following the collapse of the mine in San José, Chile. On the way out, the Mirador Árbol de Los Sueños offers a beautiful view of the village.

J'ai visité la cathédrale de Sel de Zipaquira et la mine de sel de Nemocon qui est plus authentique. La visite est guidée et commence par la découverte du musée du sel, certainement beaucoup plus intéressante si on a une visite en anglais ou français. Mon guide colombien parlait très vite et il était difficile de comprendre tous les termes très techniques. Ensuite, descente dans la mine de sel où ont lieu de multiples "pose photos" pour vous les vendre à la sortie. Stalagtites, stalagmites... et la salle où a été reconstitué le film "Les 33", très impressionnante.

Visites guidées de la mine de sel.

On y découvre l’intérêt et le fonctionnement d'une mine de sel, à travers les ages et jusqu'à notre époque: travail des mineurs, formation naturelle du sel, importance économique etc.

C'est dans l'obscurité, ça glisse, une aventure!
Et certains reflets sont vraiment à couper le souffle!

PS: il y a des hôtels à proximité. L'A/R depuis Bogotá est (très) long.

PS 2: ça n'a rien à voir avec Zipaquira
