A site much visited by Finns, but also by foreigners, which presents the history of the terrible Winter War of 1940. The Winter War Monument is a field with thousands of stones erected in memory of the Finnish and Red Army soldiers who died in the Battle of Suomussalmi in 1939-1940. The idea of the place is to make visitors reflect, using visual means, on the suffering and ravages of war. Guided tours.
