Orthodox cathedral built in 1868, a fine example of the Slavic Byzantine style, a site not to be missed
Built in 1868, the Orthodox cathedral is a superb example of the Byzantine-Slavic style. The view from the esplanade is breathtaking. It was designed by the architect A.M. Gornoschtaev. At the time, two distinct cultures of notables lived side by side: Swedish-speaking Finns and Russian notables. It remains the most important Greek Orthodox church in Western Europe, and is still standing. A wonderful visit.

This orthodox cathedral seems initially less beautiful than the cathedral Tuomiokirkko Lutheran but as soon as you enter inside, you will marvel by its rich interior.
