KENASSA (КАРАИMСКИЕ КАРАИMСКИЕ)
The Karaites community of Yevpatoriya formed at the end of the th century when the Karaites left the caves of Choufout-Kale, next to Bakhtchissaraï. After settling in Yevpatoriya, they built a meeting house or Kenassa on a project of the Babovich brothers. The large building called «cathedral» serves great religious festivals while the small is busy for daily services. The Kenassa has very beautiful interior decorations and unique original architecture in the peninsula. The building, which serves as a temple, is also open for visits.
