It was built between 1864 and 1882 by the Czech architect Hlavka, who tried to distance herself somewhat from the classic Viennese style for a construction closer to Byzantine style. So his style is unique. This red brick building was originally used to house the Metropolitans metropolitans. Beginning in 1875, a university settled there, becoming one of the first universities in Ukraine. Then, under the Soviet era, it will only serve to shelter all the university classrooms. Opposite the main building is the old palace of metropolitans.
