HILL OF THE FORTRESS OF POGRADEC

This hill (Maja e Kalasë) is very disappointing for its ruins: scattered and vandalized remains of ancient and medieval fortifications. But it is worth the detour for its panorama. We are here at 898 m of altitude, 205 m above the level of the lake of Ohrid. Suffice it to say that the view is superb with the town of Pogradec, the lake and the town of Ohrid in the distance, the Galičica massif (Mali i Thatë, 2,255 m above sea level), to the east of the lake, and Mount Lipova (Maja Lipovës, 1,415 m), to the southwest.
