STATUE OF ISA BOLETINI

Located in a small park, this magnificent 4.6 m-high bronze statue (Statuja e Isa Boletinit) was erected in 1986 to the glory of Isa Boletini (1864-1916). Nicknamed the "Lion of Kosovo", he took up arms against the Ottoman Empire, Serbia and Montenegro. The statue is one of the last works by Saban Hadëri (1928-2010), one of the most prolific sculptors of the communist period. He was also responsible for the Monument to the Heroes of Vig (1969), now installed on a traffic circle 2 km north of the town center.
