The country's most famous statue in its largest square. Bronze by Odhise Paskali depicting the national hero on horseback.
Installed here in 1968, this bronze equestrian statue (Statuja e Skënderbeut) is the most famous in Albania. Standing 5 m high (11 m with pedestal), it is the masterpiece of sculptor Odhise Paskali (1903-1985). Skanderbeg (1405-1468), who led the revolt against the Ottomans, is depicted according to the legend elaborated by writers at the end of the 19th century: helmet topped by a goat's head, scimitar (curved Ottoman sword), cape donated by Pope Paul II and horse whose neigh, it is said, terrified his enemies.

très joli monument le héro albanais sur son cheval sur une grande place rond point entouré d herbe le héro garde la ville de haut
Majestic, this statue gives the impression that Skanderbeg watches over Tirana and beyond that. It currently dominates the square of the same name in work. Children are delighted to see it, them know Skanderbeg through a children's song to the glory of the national hero.
