The town of Barrow represents the northernmost point of the United States. It is about 550 km north of the Arctic Circle, and it is certainly what the majority of tourists arriving in this small community are seeing. With these 4 300 inhabitants, the city is mainly the stronghold of the northern men, namely the Eskimos. Today their lives have changed well since they are no longer dependent on whaling or fishing, thanks to black gold. Since 1971, they have been partly owners of the riches of the subsoil. They therefore receive dividends on every barrel of North Slope extracted Oil. Their wealth is considerable, allowing them to spend less hard days than in the past, although this is not necessarily the right solution for preserving their cultural and natural heritage. In sum, this city is worth a detour because it is the most northerly of the United States and it is very possible to observe, according to the season, one of the most mythical animals on the planet: the white bear. Migratory birds are also very popular around the city and are a delight for many enthusiasts. At the end of the day, no matter why you go to Barrow, the magic always works but surely not for the aesthetics of the city…
