Portuguese construction dating from 1720, rebuilt in the neoclassical style in 1840, still in very good condition. You can see the very large stones that were used to build it. The museum consists of two buildings that were originally a residence and then a business before becoming a museum. This house was inhabited by Juan del Aguila, a Spanish general. The museum houses a collection of pieces, objects and works relating to the colonial period of the city. Of particular note are paintings by the famous painter Carlos Páez Vilaró.
