MURIN-AN GARDEN
This delightful garden is located near the entrance to Nanzen-ji. It was once owned by Aritomo Yamagata, a feudatory of the Meiji period. Built in 1896, the garden has a very special charm thanks to the high walls that protect it from the immediate environment. The garden was conceived on the basis of a new naturalistic vision, using mountainous landscapes and waterways to produce a dynamic sense of movement. It's a great place to sit back and enjoy the view from the tatami mats. Reservations required online.
