This most pleasant garden is located near the entrance of Nanzen-ji. This place was once one of the properties of Aritomo Yamagata, a feudatory of the Meiji period. Built in 1896, the garden has a very particular charm thanks to its high walls which protect it from the immediate environment. The garden was designed with a new naturalist vision, using mountainous landscapes and waterways to produce a dynamic sense of movement. One likes to sit and enjoy the view from the tatami mats. Tea is available.
