The SL Taiju steam locomotive (named after the Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, who had this nickname) takes you back in time. Its steam whistle, the accompanying thumping sounds and its slow pace that allows you to enjoy the scenery all the way to Kinugawa onsen make it a practical and fun means of transportation. The Japanese love for trains is part of the experience, and you will be surprised to see villagers, tourists and amateur photographers greeting the Taiju wherever it goes...
