Like Mitsukoshi, Isetan is one of the first Japanese shopping malls. Founded in 1886, it was originally a fabric store that became a shopping mall after the 1923 earthquake. In 1933, the department store opened in Shinjuku. Today it is hard to miss as its size is so impressive! From basements to floors, luxury shops, food, cafes are spread out endlessly. Note the art gallery on the 6th floor and the showroom on the top floor. The food departments in the basement also have some delicious surprises in store for you.
