Solitaire, as if inspired by Baghdad Café, was for a long time rightly considered as an annex of the end of the world. Situated at the junction of the C14 and C24 roads, it has become an obligatory passage over time, a crossroads between Windhoek, Walvis Bay, Maltahöhe and Sesriem. With its old farmhouse, petrol pump, chapel and convenience store, it is now home to a modern lodge and café-restaurant, the old shop has been expanded, the petrol station has been renovated, the legendary McGregor bakery has been enlarged, and an information centre offers hot air balloon flights.
