At first glance, Maltahöhe has nothing to offer the traveler, just a short stop to fill up the tank and get some supplies. One is struck by the harshness of the living conditions in these rural areas where jobs are scarce and where most of the inhabitants are in survival mode. This is also the reality of Namibia, and it is important not to hide it in order to understand the complexity of this country with its strong inequalities. In spite of this gloomy picture, the city is worth a short stop, at least to refresh yourself, at the Maltahöhe Hotel, a historical establishment of the city (1907), with a typically Namibian atmosphere.
