The Great Mosque, known as "the hundred columns", is located in the heart of the old city of Cherchell. It would have been built at the beginning of the 16th century - in 1574 to be precise - by Andalusians on the site of a Roman temple. The hundred or so columns which support it, and from which it takes its name, certainly came from the western thermal baths. During the colonial period, the French made of the mosque a civil and military hospital. Very beautiful visit.
