This villa, once an artists' residence, has now been converted into the headquarters of the Agence algérienne pour le rayonnement culturel.
After having been abandoned and squatted for a long time, the villa Abd El Tif a is currently the headquarters of the Algerian Agency for Cultural Radiation (AARC). This former djenane, summer residence of the Ottoman period, would have been requisitioned by the French army which made a hospital for soldiers before becoming in 1907 a residence for artists like the Villa Medici in Rome. From 1907 to 1962, the villa's five studios were home to 97 painters and sculptors, selected by competition for two-year residencies.
