Built in 1660 for the Turks of Hanafi rite, the El Djedid mosque is also known as the Mosque of the Fishery. It is one of the few buildings not to have been destroyed during the redesign of the Marine district by the French. Its originality lies in its architectural plan in the shape of a Latin cross, which recalls that of a church. Inside, the minbar is made of marble, the mihrab is decorated with earthenware tiles and plaster moldings. The harmony of its lines and its immaculate whiteness make it a fascinating religious building
