The first section of the first tramway line (East line), linking the communes of Hussein Dey and Bordj El Kiffan, was inaugurated on May 8, 2011. This section was subsequently extended to Dergana, to the east of the city. Trains run from 5 a.m. to midnight at 12-minute intervals (7 minutes during rush hour).
