CHÂTEAU VISCONTI
Built between 1575 and 1593, the château's origins are uncertain, and part of the building is thought to date back to 1342. According to studies, Leonardo da Vinci designed the current plans. The exterior - a remarkable example of Renaissance style - was restored in 1923. Today, it houses the Archaeological Museum, featuring artefacts discovered in the Locarno region from the late Bronze Age through Roman remains to the early Middle Ages. A section of the museum is dedicated to the history of the Protestant Reformation in Locarno.
