TEMPLE SAINT-GERVAIS (SAINT-GERVAIS TEMPLE)
The present-day church of Saint-Gervais stands on the remains of an ancient place of worship dating back to the5th century, and on the foundations of a 10th-century Romanesque church. Built from the mid-15th century onwards, it adopts a Gothic style and owes its name to the surrounding district on the right bank of the Rhône. Over the years, several restorations have revealed precious frescoes and ancient paintings. The church also boasts magnificent carved wooden stalls, typical of the flamboyant Gothic style, and superb stained-glass windows (restored in the early 20th century).
