The zoo is home to 5,500 animals from all over the world, divided into 360 species, including the exotic fish aquarium. The zoo fulfils two functions: raising visitors' awareness of nature conservation and preserving endangered species through exchange programs with other zoos. Constantly evolving, the park has seen the opening of the Masoala rainforest (2003) before the construction of the elephant dome (2014) and the Mongolian steppe (2015). Construction work on Panterra, the feline facility, began in July 2023.

Beautiful zoo where animals are obviously very neat. Much diversity. You can easily spend half a day for a stroll. Magnificent view of Zurich and lake going on foot to the forest on the left descending to the city.
