THE LLORTS IRON MINE

On the outskirts of the village, in the direction of El Serrat, lies the famous Llorts iron mine, an essential stage on the no less famous iron route. During the ^19th century, the site was used in an attempt to locate new ore reserves. Exploitation was not very successful, hence the small size of the mine (30 m deep, blasted). The Llorts iron mine is fascinating nonetheless. It's one of the last sites in Andorra to bear witness to ^19th-century ore extraction. Calling all Indiana Joneses!
