A little-known mansion and emblem of maritime tradition, with a salon, new buildings and even a ballroom.
It is a private mansion unknown to the people of Cherbourg, and for a good reason: it is (almost) not open to the public! The hotel of the maritime prefect, in the heart of the city centre, is still the residence of the prefect and can only be visited during specific events, such as the Heritage Days some years. It is an emblem of the city’s maritime tradition, with salons, new buildings and even a ballroom. The residence has been the place of passage of many state officials.

Hôtel du Préfet Maritime 50100 Cherbourg-En-Cotentin
L' hôtel du préfet maritime est situé à Cherbourg-En-Cotentin. C'est une belle bâtisse en longueur avec une très belle porte d'entrée, exception faite des panneaux d'interdiction de stationnement. Les bas de porte représentent des créatures marines qui m'ont bien plu. A voir par curiosité en se promenant en ville.
