Once you've passed the Kamchik pass, as the road descends into the Ferghana valley towards Kokand, you'll notice an abundance of non (or bread) stalls. Like all round breads in Uzbekistan, Kokand bread is, along with Samarkand bread, the most famous in the country, and we strongly recommend that you try it. It's called the kokand patir: it's larger than the average, flatter and extensively decorated. Almost a work of art, it melts in your mouth while still warm.
